I'm taking social media strategies in order to get a better understanding of how a company is taking advantage of the tech age.
I'm deciding to focus on the social media strategies that sports team are utilizing. Every sports team has a Twitter and Instagram by now, it's an easy way to keep in touch with fans and keep them up-to-date with what the team and organization are doing.
How do sports teams include fans from around the country without excluding their in-state fans? Vice versa. How do sports teams include in-state fans without excluding their out-of-state fans?

2. Should you have a professional Instagram account? Or is Instagram too personal to be professional?

Goals
A major goal of mine is to find people within the sporting industry who have jobs centered around the communication in the field as well as looking at positions that specifically manage the social media accounts of the teams.
Social media accounts such as Wendy's have gain popularity due to their witty banter and comebacks, but there is always that possibility it could be hurtful to the company. I want to know how to respond quickly and effectively. I've already taken crisis communication, but I want to know how to respond via social media - not media interviews or conferences with reporters.
I've followed my favorite teams for a while now, but when I made a media kit for the Denver Broncos, the social media calendar threw me for a loop. Even after I had seen these posts I didn't know how to formulate my own for the team. I wanna learn how to make good tweets that focus on the team and fans.
Another goal is learning how to reach both side of the spectrum, from the older generation who usually use just email and Facebook to the meme generation that have all the social media accounts imaginable.
A HUGE goal of mine is getting better with planning. As a senior I've perfected procrastinating and getting things done the literal last minute. But, I want to learn how to plan and have tweets and such already formulated and ready to go - to where you just give it a set time and date to be publish. That's a wild concept to me, having stuff planned out for the week before the week has even started.
A more so career goal is incorporating the athletes and owners more with the social media accounts of the organization. Yes, they all have their personals but there needs to be a more communal part revolving around the main account of the team.
